Detailed 13-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Yogyakarta

First, welcome to Yogyakarta, the soul of Java! After a smooth ride from the airport, then take time to rest at your hotel. Alternatively, you can explore the area nearby. Following this, enjoy a welcome dinner later. At the dinner, you will meet your photo guide and fellow travelers. Ultimately, this will start an inspiring trip.

So, what will you photograph? You will shoot street scenes, Javanese buildings, and finally batik artists. However, please note that the artist shoot is only possible if we have enough time.

Day 2: Borobudur Sunrise & Village Life

Get up early for a sunrise photo shoot at Borobudur Temple. This is the world’s largest Buddhist building. First, photograph the morning mist. The mist slowly shows the temple towers and volcanoes far away.

Following your morning shoot, explore a nearby old village. There, you can take photos of people and real country life. To summarize the best shots, key photos will be Borobudur at dawn, rice fields, and local people. In addition, you can also shoot ox carts and market scenes.

Day 3: Prambanan Temples & Royal Heritage

Overall, for this morning, you will first explore Prambanan. Note that this is a that has many detailed carvings. Furthermore, following this, you will next visit the Kraton (Sultan’s Palace). Subsequently, you will also see the Taman Sari Water Castle. Therefore, as a result, you can photograph classic Javanese buildings and feel the royal mood.

Day 4: Journey to Mount Bromo via Surabaya

Day 5: Mount Bromo Sunrise & Volcano Landscapes

Get up early for a jeep ride to the Bromo viewpoint. You will then photograph one of Indonesia’s best scenes. Specifically, you will see Mount Bromo, with Mount Semeru active behind it. After the sunrise shoot, walk down to the Sea of Sand. Finally, hike to the Bromo crater rim.

Your best photo subjects will be:

  3. Horses and riders moving across the sand.

Day 6: Ijen Crater via Banyuwangi

To begin this stage, travel east to Banyuwangi. Keep in mind that this town is the entry point for Mount Ijen. Upon arrival, when you get there, check into your eco-lodge. Because of the early start, it is important that you rest then. In short, this helps you get ready for a hike early tomorrow. However, if you prefer, enjoy an evening photo walk. The walk can be either around the village or the harbor

Day 7: Turquoise Lake  & Ijen Sulfur Miners

At midnight, start your hike to the Ijen Crater. There, you will see its blue lake. You can also photograph the sulfur miners working at sunrise. After hiking down, take a ferry to Bali. From there, head to Lovina. This town is famous for its calm, black sand beaches.

Overall, photo highlights include the Ijen crater and volcanic lake. In particular, you will want to capture the miners working at sunrise. Also, the rare blue flames make a great shot. Finally, don’t forget to take portraits of the miners.

Day 8: Lovina Dolphins & North Bali Landscapes

Before sunrise, get on a traditional boat. You will photograph wild dolphins. They will look like shadows against the morning sky. When you return, explore North Bali’s rice fields. You will also see its waterfalls and old Balinese villages.

Your main photo subjects are:

  1. Dolphins swimming against the sunrise.

  2. The Gitgit or Sekumpul Waterfall.

Day 9: Ubud – Temples, Markets & Monkeys

Travel to Ubud, the artistic heart of Bali.

In the evening, capture the golden light over rice paddies. Or, watch a Kecak dance performance.

Day 10: Bali Rice Terraces & Local Culture (Tabanan Region)

Day 13: Departure from Bali

Immediately after breakfast, transfer to Ngurah Rai International Airport. This is for your departure.
